COVID-19 Update - 13/5/2020

To our Patients and Friends of Teeth on the Heath,

We are all looking forward to resuming to our normal life. The entire world has suffered so much over the last few months.

We wanted to give you an update on the progress the practice is making in preparation for our eventual permission to re-open and our commitment to you to keep you safe.

Our practice follows all the guidelines of infection control so that when you receive care, it is both safe and comfortable.

We are preparing new practice protocols in order to operate a safe and efficient dental practice for all our patients, our staff and our wider community following the COVID-19 crisis.

You will note some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We are making these changes and revising our protocols to help protect our patients and staff. Please be assured a team member will guide you through any new changes.

We will call you the day before your appointment and ask some questions. You will be required to thoroughly brush your teeth before arrival to the practice.

What to expect when arriving for your next appointment:

  • We will require you to use hand sanitizer and to wear a mask.
  • We will ask you to rinse your mouth with an antiseptic mouth wash.
  • Your forehead temperature will be checked using a medical grade thermometer.
  • The reception desk in the waiting room will have a Perspex panel.
  • Patients are asked to come on their own where possible, arrangements can be made if necessary to have companions.
  • We would ask you to respecting social distance recommendations within the practice.
  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients, which will mean reduced activity first few months. We aim to try and see all of you as soon as possible.
  • You are likely to see your dentist/hygienist and nursing staff wearing additional PPE.
  • Where possible, all treatment payments and further appointments will be made over the phone.
  • You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer newspapers and magazines, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.

As the COVID-19 knowledge grows we expect further recommendations which will impact how we deliver your dental care. Additional infection control measures, modified treatment procedures, revised practice protocols and any other safety recommendations will be addressed by the practice when advice is provided by our professional governing bodies.

We are available 7-days a week regarding any dental problems or concerns you may have during this outbreak. We will be able to provide temporary filling kits, offer advice; prescribe pain relief and antibiotics should your symptoms meet certain criteria. For dental problems we are unable to manage we have access to refer patients to the COVID-19 dental emergency Hub network.
